A Delhi court has declared London-based arms middleman Sanjay Bhandari a fugitive economic offender and directed the confiscation of his undisclosed foreign assets worth ₹655 crore, marking the 16th such declaration under the 2018 legislation.
Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal, in a 100-page order delivered on Saturday, ruled that the Enforcement Directorate had met all requirements under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018, to designate Bhandari as an economic fugitive.
“This court is satisfied that the total value of the scheduled offence is ₹100 crores or more... the Directorate of Enforcement has metal the requirements... as such this court is satisfied that Sanjay Bhandari is a fugitive economic offender under Section 12(1) of Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018,” Judge Aggarwal stated, referring to the scheduled offence under Section 51 of the Black Money Act.
