Pittodrie chiefs turn to Stephen
STEPHEN ROBINSON is set to become Aberdeen's new manager.
The Pittodrie club triggered the Premier Sports Cup-winning gaffer's six-figure release clause to take him from St Mirren.
Robinson arrived in the Granite City yesterday to finalise his terms on a long-term contract.
And the new man will take Brian Kerr as his No.2. Robinson is expected to take the Dons for the first time in this Saturday's home game against Falkirk.
The move was driven by Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows, who is a big fan of the 51-year-old from their time at Fir Park.
Robinson has added to his reputation by leading St Mirren to League Cup glory, beating Celtic in the Final, taking them into the top six for three seasons and back into Europe.
Dons sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel had led the search. He had interviewed Robinson but wanted to go with Eirik Horneland.
