Snow and ice predicted as temps plummet to welcome in new year
THE Met Office has warned that up to eight inches of snow could settle on New Year's Day.
Scotland could get the heaviest snowfall from 6am tomorrow until midnight on Friday, while two inches of snow is predicted to fall across Britain, although some areas could see 11 inches or more build up.
A yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for parts of the country north of the Central Belt.
Issuing the warning, the Met Office said: "Given the strength of the wind, some significant drifting of snow is likely.
"Lightning may well be an additional hazard."
