THE King has met bereaved families of the Southport knife attack to express his condolences for their loss.

Charles, 75, suspended his traditional Balmoral break to hold a private meeting at Clarence House in London, Buckingham Palace said.

Earlier this week, the monarch expressed his "deepest sympathy" over the July 29 attack that claimed the lives of three schoolgirls.
