NIGEL Farage was last night accused of stoking tensions after calling for more protests at migrant hotels, amid fears of further violent clashes.

- BY DAVE BURKE

The Reform UK leader's incendiary words came as the asylum system was plunged into chaos after a judge blocked Epping’s Bell Hotel in Essex from housing those seeking refuge here.

And ministers are now braced for a wave of similar applications by other local councils.

The number of asylum seekers in hotels has fallen from a high under the Tories. The scheme was ramped up while Boris Johnson was PM, due to failures that led to a backlog of cases.

Labour is tasked with fixing it and has pledged to end the misery of asylum hotels while cracking down on people smuggling gangs.

But Mr Farage appeared to use Epping as a rallying cry for more hostilities towards migrants. He said: “The good people of Epping must inspire similar protests around Britain.

“Let's hold peaceful protests outside migrant hotels and put pressure on councils to go to court to try to get illegal immigrants out”

Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer said: “Nigel Farage’s role in whipping up unrest around asylum hotels is absolutely shameful.

“He is a millionaire preying on people’s anger and fear to divide communities, stoke tensions and put people’s safety at risk”
