Chemical attack fugitive jilted by victim, say police

The convicted sex offender drove 280 miles from his Newcastle home to confront the 31-year-old woman, who was living in an asylum seekers hotel in Clapham, south London, with her two daughters.

As he threw the corrosive chemical believed to be either liquid sodium hydroxide or liquid sodium whilst inside a car carbonate with the family, it also splashed on to his own face, causing devastating injuries.

Yesterday, police said that unless Ezedi, 35, gets medical attention his injuries could prove deadly.

The woman has been left blind in her right eye by the attack, whilst the two children aged three and eight were also injured but have been released from hospital.

Commander Jon Savell, from the Metropolitan Police, confirmed the Afghan-born refugee had been in a relationship with the woman - but was not the father of the girls.
