Israel strikes at Qatar

September 10, 2025

ISRAEL yesterday launched a strike targeting the leadership of the Hamas militant group in Qatar, officials said, further widening its campaign against the militant group.

Black smoke rose over the skyline of Qatar's capital city, Doha, with authorities there acknowledging the strike. It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt in the attack.

The assault targeted energy-rich Qatar, a country which has served as a key negotiator in efforts to end the nearly two years of war that have gripped the wider Middle East since Gaza-based Hamas's attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. It also called into question whether any negotiations immediately will continue.
