BASS BREWERY PROPOSALS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR APPROVAL

PLANS for the regeneration of the Bass Brewery site are set to be given the green light this week.

The project includes the redevelopment of Bass House, a new hotel and a new visitors centre for the Wildlife Trust at the Washlands.

Earlier this year, East Staffordshire Borough Council submitted the plans after working on them since the closure of the National Brewery Centre.

The scheme involves the creation of a centre of heritage, history and brewing celebration at Bass House. It is planned for exhibitions, learning facilities and a food and beverage offering.

The vacant Carling House, which was the headquarters of Molson Coors until 2022, is planned to be turned into a hotel.

Trent House, a more modern office building, is planned to be demolished to make way for a public plaza which will be capable of holding events throughout the year.
