MORE THAN 120 PEOPLE SET TO JOIN YMCA BURTON FUNDRAISER

OFFICIALS at YMCA Burton are appealing for people to sign up to its biggest annual fundraising event as it aims for a sellout.

- By MAIL REPORTER

More than 120 people have already registered to take part in the YMCA Burton Sleepout - which takes place overnight at Burton Albion Football Club and St Modwen’s graveyard on Friday, November 7.

The funds raised this year are particularly critical as the cost of living continues to hit hard, meaning the charity is experiencing increased demand across all of its services.

Now in its 17th year, people taking part in the Sleepout will experience a little of what it’s like to be homeless and how vulnerable people live day-to-day, whilst raising money to support the charity's work across East Staffordshire.

This year alone, YMCA Burton has provided a safe place to call home for 93 people who would otherwise have been sofa surfing or sleeping rough.

They support more than 12,000 people each year and its main homeless site in Burton town centre is open 365 days a year.
