Christmas Market ready to embrace the changes coming to Broadmead
Bristol Post
|November 12, 2025
It may still only be the first half of November but Broadmead’s Christmas market is already in full swing.
And while thousands will be venturing to the attraction over the coming weeks, others are already looking ahead to what the future holds.
The Galleries is set to be demolished as part of a major redevelopment for the Broadmead area. The shopping centre will be replaced by some 450 new homes, new shops and restaurants, and will open up the area between Castle Park and Broadmead.
It is set to be one of the biggest redevelopments Bristol has seen in recent years, changing the way the city centre and Broadmead looks and feels. Currently, Broadmead shoppers can make their way around the shops in Cabot Circus, Quakers Friars and The Horsefair, through Broadmead and Bristol's Shopping Quarter and into The Galleries - but one by one, shops in the shopping centre, which opened in 1991, have closed and moved out ahead of the building’s demolition.
