ENERGISING THE PATH TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

As India moves rapidly towards achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, Devansh Jain, Executive Director of INOXGFL Group, discusses in an interview with Nisha Shukla how the conglomerate is uniquely positioned to lead this transition through innovation, integration, and industrial self-reliance.

As India sets its sights on a bold target of 500 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, few industrial groups are as well-positioned, or, as committed, to driving this transition as INOXGFL. With interests spanning wind energy, fluorochemicals, and specialty chemicals, the group's multifaceted approach is designed to not only scale clean power but also localise the ecosystem that supports it.
"INOXGFL is fully aligned with India's 500 GW non-fossil energy vision for 2030," affirms Devansh Jain, Executive Director, INOXGFL Group. "We are expanding our renewable power footprint through multiple entities, including Inox Wind, Inox Green Energy, Inox Solar, and our IPP arm Inox Neo Energies. At the same time, our fluorochemicals and specialty chemicals verticals enable the solar and battery industries by supplying critical raw materials, laying the groundwork for a robust, domestic clean energy value chain."
FROM CAPACITY TO ACTUAL POWER: BRIDGING THE GAP
While non-fossil capacity now represents around 45 per cent of India's total installed capacity, actual generation from these sources hovers at a lower 24 per cent. Is this divergence cause for concern?
Jain offers a pragmatic explanation. "This gap arises from lower utilisation factors in renewables versus conventional sources. A solar plant typically achieves 20-25 per cent, and wind around 30-35 per cent. But when we hybridise—combining wind and solar or adding storage, the utilisation jumps to 40-70 per cent."
INOXGFL sees its future in precisely such hybrid and firm dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) projects. "We are championing these integrated models and are deeply invested in making them viable through better grid integration, smarter plants, and large-scale storage."
