Continental, BMTC, IIT Delhi & RLF Expand 'OnBoard' for the Visually Impaired in Bengaluru

In an inspiring move towards inclusive urban mobility, Continental, in collaboration with BMTC, IIT Delhi, and Raised Lines Foundation, is taking a big step forward with the expansion of the 'OnBoard' solution in Bengaluru. This initiative, launched under Continental's CSR arm 'Conscience', aims to make public transport more accessible for visually impaired citizens by helping them board buses safely and independently.

After a successful pilot on 25 BMTC buses, the system is now active on 100+ buses, with plans to scale up to 500 by August 2025. The OnBoard system uses a simple, yet powerful idea: a bus-mounted speaker that provides audio cues to help visually impaired passengers identify bus route numbers and locate entry doors—empowering them to navigate city buses on their own.
