By the end of 2026, BYD expects to scale its footprint to 60-70 dealerships, a feat that would give it one of the fastest and widest market penetrations of any EV brand operating on African soil. This growth is backed by a powerful combination of competitive pricing, expanding charging infrastructure, favourable government policy signals, and the rising curiosity of a new generation of African motorists.

South Africa is uniquely positioned to serve as the epicentre of EV adoption in Africa. It boasts the continent's most sophisticated automotive manufacturing base, a relatively established consumer credit system, and a growing appetite for cleaner mobility solutions.
