With its dealership network on track to hit 35 outlets by Q1 2026-a target originally set for late 2026-BYD is signaling not just confidence in the South African market but a deeper strategic ambition: to use Africa's most advanced automotive base as the springboard for a continental EV revolution.

By the end of 2026, BYD expects to scale its footprint to 60-70 dealerships, a feat that would give it one of the fastest and widest market penetrations of any EV brand operating on African soil. This growth is backed by a powerful combination of competitive pricing, expanding charging infrastructure, favourable government policy signals, and the rising curiosity of a new generation of African motorists.
