The causes of obesity are a multiple factors such as genetic cultural behavioural and socio-economic. A person does not become obese overnight, but over a reasonably long period of time if the imbalance between calories consumed and calories spent persist. Then there is every chance of turning obese. The human body can support some extra fat and it is required also for the purpose of storing energy and body insulating. But beyond a certain point of time, the body fat creates problem for your health and sometimes is life threatening also.
Factors for Obesity
- Age: after 40 years your metabolic rate slowly decreases. If you eat the same quantity of food as you were young & even if you do a lot of physical activity, your weight increases. The fact is that you don’t require so many calories and the extra calories are deposited as fat. The immediate solution is to decrease your calorie intake and make it a permanent one for a better life.
- Level of activity: The requirement of calories for a particular person depends on the activity level. A very active person requires more calories than a less active person. Without regular physical activity, fat gets deposited in the body.
