Mrs Madlala has found real love, but her lover Bongz doesn’t check all the boxes for her.

Younger guy Bongz (Othembele Nomgca) has gone all-out for his cougar lover Mrs Madlala (Ntombifuthi Dlamini): a guitar player, flowers, the whole shebang as he prepares to propose. But it might all be in vain, says Ntombifuthi, who has grown an online following of younger male fans who’re in love with the idea of her character. “She is shocked by his proposal when he is down on one knee,” says the actress. “If she could, she would flee because it’s too much for her. She is shocked and doesn’t know how to handle this,” adds the actress, who thinks that it may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

TOO MUCH, TOO SOON?

Mrs Madlala and her Ben 10 met while she was walking with her friends Madongwe (Zama Magubane) and Mr Mbatha (Thabo Mnguni) earlier this year and it was instant attraction. “They have never cared about the glares because of their age gap, or the snide comments,” says Ntombifuthi. “It’s always been about them and not what anyone says. So it’s natural that they would advance things and consider getting married… eventually.” The actress is adamant that her character loves her younger partner “and she sees them in a committed relationship and even having kids,” explains Ntombifuthi. But she is feeling a little overwhelmed. It’s a good thing that Bongz actually consulted Mrs Madlala’s bestie Madongwe before putting his proposal plan together. “He is young and naive. He was going to take her bungee jumping and propose there,” says Othembele with a laugh. “He thinks that he has come up with the perfect proposal and he doesn’t foresee any answer but ‘yes’ from his love.” So what could possibly go wrong?
