The history of this company dates back to 1879 when the founder, Ole Gabriel Kverneland, built his small forge in the village of Kvernaland, 25km outside of Stavanger, Norway. Joe Spencer reports.

140 Years Of Kverneland

Norway’s OG Kvernelands Fabrik, today a global supplier of leading edge farming implements, started off by making scythes. Its founder, talented inventor Ole Gabriel Kverneland, designed his own water-powered spring hammer and used it to mass-produce up to 8 000 scythes annually. This gave him the edge over his rivals, who used traditional, manual production methods.
