NZ Surfing #183 On Sale!!
We survived winter and not only that, we scored some of the most epic waves for a very long time through these colder and shorter days. We roamed the country far and wide, kicking down with grassroots surfing, groms, and champions! A few lucky crew ventured offshore and returned with tales of life-changing sessions. All these and more make up the latest instalment from NZ Surfing.
On the Cover Brett Summerlee who, if you’ve met you will agree there is possibly not a more amped human on the planet, he headed off and an adventure of a lifetime with a heap of good mates to the Wavepark in the Mentawai’s and they walked straight into one of the best runs of swell in living memory, where they scored this epic session at No-Kandui.
Featuring inside:
The Indian Ocean Lights Up- During the same period as the cover, the entire Indian Ocean was bombarded by swell after swell! For nearly a month the swell didn’t drop beneath six foot and peaked during the mega-viral swell, that saw the internet blow up when a 20-25 foot swell pounded the Indonesian coastline forcing an ocean-going ban enforced by the Indonesian Government. We feature the stories from a few Kiwis caught up in this madness, the highs and the lows!
The Surfboard Design Forum- Being our annual surfboard design issue, firstly we take a look at ‘First’ surfboards, the first boards ridden in NZ and each surfers ‘first’. We also profile Paul Barron of the FlexBar technology, the latest of a long list of Kiwi innovators who have taken their ideas to the world. Roger Hall gives his advice on building a shortboard quiver, and we feature the latest designs from the top Kiwi and international manufacturers to help you choose your next board.
