That’s because of a sneaky tactic called “white labeling.” “It’s when a manufacturer sells the same product to several different retailers— for example, a leather chair that’s sold to five different stores,” explains Audrey Scheck, founder & CEO of Audrey Scheck Design in Austin, Texas. “Pricing can vary by hundreds of dollars for the same chair,” she says. But because each store calls the chair by a different name, it’s almost impossible to comparison shop…until now! The new, free online search engine Spoken.io and Chrome extension Score App (available at Chrome.Google.com/webstore) use image search technology to find the item you want at other online stores. They’ll give you all the prices and links so you can buy the one that saves you the most cash.
