Woman's World
|September 18, 2023
When Beth Hochstein was diagnosed with youngonset Parkinson's disease, she turned to dance to stay active. It helped so much, she started classes for others with the same illness, sparking fun and hope!
Beth Hochstein swallowed nervously as her doctor eyed her solemnly. “It’s Parkinson’s disease,” he said, sending her neat and tidy world reeling.
The Old Westbury, New York, then-36-year-old was enjoying life as a wife, mother and successful podiatrist and foot surgeon when the symptoms hit. First, the pinkie on her right hand would lock. Then her thumb was doing the same thing, and eventually her right ankle. When her right hand began to tremor, she consulted a neurologist. Now, leaving his office, Beth knew her career was over…her whole life would never be the same.
