The cost of food waste
Food waste is a big problem. In the UK, 60% of food waste comes from our homes - and this means we're chucking money in the bin. The average UK family could save £1,000 per year by not throwing so much food away, says the campaign group Love Food Hate Waste. You can find advice on its website atlovefoodhatewaste.com, but there are also easy-to-use smartphone apps that can help.
