Displays of winter-flowering heather (Erica carnea and Erica x darleyensis) are usually over by March. Now is the time to dust off the shears and remove faded flower spikes to encourage bushy growth and next year's flowers. Finish with a thick mulch and light feed to boost health and vigour.
