A chat with my younger sister!

It was Karthikai Deepam, a festival celebrated by South Indians, where diyas are lit in verandas and inside homes-by sisters for their brothers.

Kamala is always meticulous about visiting her brother Rajesh on this special day each year!

For PK, their elder sister, it depends on the challenges of traffic and her office schedule to reach her brother's home. This year, she made it and was so happy to see her family and the beautifully lit diyas.

Happily, the sisters and brother reminisced about their Amma and Appa, saying, "This is Amma ka velku (diya), you know..."

The deliciously mouthwatering appam-both sweet and savoury-and the poori (sweet) stole the show. What could one say? Rajesh is a superb cook! As always, I teased him, "Saroja has given all her talent to her only son!" (We love to call Amma, Saroja, when we rag her).

A photo session of the trio ensued, and after sharing the pictures on the family group, PK cribbed in the chat like a child: "Oh, so many black marks on my face-l look so ugly! Pigmentation is ruling my face."
