Monsoon Illnesses

The scorching heat of summer makes us yearn for early rains. The first rain wets the earth, and the mud gives out a pleasant smell as it soaks up the rain. Soon, the torrential rains arrive, bringing a host of illnesses such as various fevers and gastroenteritis.

High humidity and warm temperatures create an environment conducive to the growth of bacteria and viruses. Mosquitoes, air, contaminated water, and food are major means by which illnesses spread during the rains.

Mosquito-Borne illnesses

Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya: These are transmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoes. Less commonly, West Nile virus fever, Zika virus fever, yellow fever, and filariasis can also occur.
