Bev and Lang love exploring the world with their 100-year old car

Bev Kidby and her husband Lang have just arrived home in Queensland after driving from England to Australia in a 100-year-old car!

This unconventional mode of transport took almost five months as the pair travelled from the UK to Melbourne via France, Italy, Turkey, Iran and also India.

UNFORGETTABLE TIMES

“Travelling through Iran was amazing. We stayed in beautiful old homes that have been turned into hotels and the people were incredibly hospitable. I met some fascinating women who told me about their lives,” says Bev, 78.

“We drove through Tehran, which was full of high-rises, and then through the desert and sandstorms. It was an unforgettable time of my life.”

This expedition was the latest in a series of world journeys for the couple who met through a family friend in Melbourne. By the time they married more than 55 years ago, Lang, 77, had already driven around Australia and joined the Army so he could learn to fly.

“Lang loved adventure and travel. After we married, we had two daughters and lived in New Guinea, England and all over Australia as the Army moved Lang around. I grew to enjoy the adventure, too,” says Bev.
