The Big Brother star rescued his wife and baby in a house fire!

When a smoke alarm woke Mike Goldman from a deep sleep, he initially felt annoyed and thought it must need new batteries, but seconds later he saw smoke and realised his family was in the middle of a terrifying ordeal.

"I was crying my eyes out," a shaken Mike tells Woman's Day, who even a few days later was still haunted by the thought of how close they all came to losing their lives, and just how fortunate they were to have a working smoke alarm.

"We'd probably be dead if it wasn't for that smoke alarm – 100 per cent! You never think it's going to happen to you until it does."

LUCKY ESCAPE

Mike, 52, and wife Bianca, 35, escaped with their 14-month-old son Jagger after the fire began in their garage about 4am, and just before flames engulfed their home in the Brisbane suburb of Bulimba.

Mike and Bianca fled with just the pyjamas they were wearing as the fire spread so fast. They weren't able to save anything, not even their mobile phones.
