DITA VON TEESE ‘I REFUSE TO DISAPPEAR WITH AGE’

As she returns to Oz, the burlesque icon reveals why turning 50 never rattled her

For more than two decades, Dita Von Teese has built a world around glamour, mystery and immaculate self-invention.

With her porcelain skin, lacquered waves and precise red lips, the burlesque superstar has become one of the most recognisable women on the planet — an icon of old-Hollywood seduction in an age of oversharing.

But, speaking exclusively to Woman’s Day, Dita reveals what matters most to her isn’t perfection — it’s perspective. And at 53, she says she feels less concerned with age than she does with appreciation.

“I’m really happy to be alive and well and I’m a dancer and my body feels good,” she says. “I just did a sold-out show tonight for thousands of people. I’m just really grateful to be here.”

It’s a strikingly grounded sentiment from a woman so often associated with fantasy. But perhaps that’s exactly what makes Dita so compelling now.
