PHOTOGRAPHY IN ICELAND
Having a woman at the helm of family-run Wild Photography Holidays means plenty of female photographers sign up for trips, says co-founder Geraldine Westrupp. She and husband Martin Sammtleben, both professional photographers, have been based in Iceland for years and have operated tours since 2009, so they know all the authentic, off-the-beaten-track spots that make for beautiful imagery. Their groups photograph towering waterfalls, lava formations, mirror-still lakes, wild horses and (hopefully) the aurora borealis, with expert tutors leading the way. Keen photographers are welcome, whether they're using a DSLR, a point-and-shoot camera or even a smartphone.
Accommodation is mostly high-end and luxurious, unless you're visiting a wild, rugged area of the island where only more rustic cabins are available, so this is a bucket-list option in terms of price. Trips range from £3,400 to £5,200, depending on length and itinerary. But with adventures and excursions to some remote and wild parts of Iceland - as well as expert tuition - it will be a very memorable trip.

SINGING IN AUSTRIA
'If Singing Holidays was a cake, the ingredients would be singing, great teaching, wonderful food, a splash of wine and a small group,' say founders Alex and Témi. The pair met studying classical singing at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and now run fun, relaxed choral breaks across Europe, themed by musical style.
