EMBRACING MY GREYS!

Pulling a comb through my hair, I parted it slightly to the left, before trying a zig-zag parting. It was no use. Whatever way I brushed my hair, the pesky grey strands still peeped through. It was August 2003, just ahead of my 40th birthday, and as I looked at my reflection in the bathroom mirror, I knew it was time. I couldn't put it off any longer. The day had come to start dyeing my hair.

I don't remember the moment I spotted my first white hair in my brown mane. Instead, it was a gradual change that started in my 30s. But now, I was greying enough to decide I had to get it covered.

DYEING HER HAIR

I could no longer strategically place my parting to hide them and I was selfconscious, particularly as an older mum.

Having two children at the age of 35 and   38, I was already aware of the mums younger than me in the playground. I wasn't 'old' but I didn't want my children to see me that way.
