I have fallen completely and utterly in love again with live performance. I don’t think I ever fell out of love with theatre and movies, but for a long time, I didn’t make the effort to go.

I dipped my toe back into the water when my mate Les and I started making the movies a regular experience and then all of a sudden, a plethora of performances were advertised that I thought I'd like to go to.

Bluey, the award-winning Aussie animated series about a blue heeler and her family, was coming to Auckland as a stage show. The grandkids watched the programme on TV for years and loved it. It’s funny, warm-hearted and delivers good messages without being preachy.

When it was first advertised, the performance was six months away, so I got tickets for me and Dora. Bart would be a young man of eight by the time Bluey rolled into town and I felt he might be slightly beyond it.
