November 2025

Gautam Sinha's world is defined by precision-of thought, of craft, and of the quiet beauty that anchors contemporary Indian design.

Craft Without Borders

His journeys across continents have shaped a view of luxury that values intention over excess and emotion over ornament. Rooted in India yet global in spirit, his vision for Nappa Dori reflects the people, places, and philosophies that continue to shape his craft. In this conversation with Stuti Agarwal, Sinha reflects on the shifting landscape of luxury, the cultural codes embedded in objects, and how travel continues to refine the way he sees, creates, and lives.

What's your earliest memory of luxury or travel that still influences how you view luxury today?

You can't define luxury through a single moment or in a conventional sense. It means different things to different people. For some, it's an emotional connection; for others, a tactile experience. For me, it's always been about the abundance of time—those rare moments when I have complete freedom to do whatever I want, without schedules or obligations. That sense of unhurried stillness has always felt like true luxury to me, and over time, valuing my time has become my ultimate goal.

How would you define luxury in 2025 for both Indian and global travellers?

Luxury is no longer about opulence or excess. It's about meaning, mindfulness, and connection. Today's travellers, both in India and around the world, value authenticity, privacy, and purpose over extravagance. Sustainability will also be key, as travellers become more conscious of time, materials, and waste. More than anything, luxury will mean balance, calm, and inner space.
