The road into town curved through sleepy coconut groves and sun-dusted plains. Windmills stood tall in the breeze, like silent charkhas, their blades humming a quiet song of movement and change. Pilgrims walked barefoot, softly chanting bhajans under their breath. A sacred stillness filled the air.

Long before cartographers marked this land on maps, it was known in myth as Kumari Kandam—the realm of the virgin goddess. Here, Goddess Parvati, in her youthful form as Kumari Amman, awaited union with Shiva. Legend says he never arrived, and she remained—eternal and untouched—blessing the land with her fierce purity.
