THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO PERSONALISING YOUR WEDDING

Bridal outfits hand-embroidered with a grandparent's loving words; rings inscribed with a couple's secret code; invites calligraphed by the groom's mother; a wedding menu borrowed from the couple's best dates-the common thread between most Indian weddings in 2022 is how different and unique each is. As couples infuse meaning to their special day with elements inspired by their love story and individuality, personalisation has emerged as the magic word. No detail is too small to be reimagined. This personal touch can be seen everywhere, from invitations and décor that feature motifs the couple loves to outfits embellished with the bride's favourite affirmation. We round up some of the most beautiful ways you can own every bit of your celebration.

CLOTHES THAT TELL YOUR STORY

One of the first things an engaged couple thinks of (and friends and relatives ask about) is what they will wear. And the answer is no longer just about which designer they might opt for. Rather, it's about how their look stands out and reveals their personality and their history. The clothes, the jewellery, the shoes, the cuff links-all have a role to play in making a wedding special. And couples are keen to wear their heart on their sleeve, literally.

For her summer wedding to Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, for example, wore an ivory organza sari by Sabyasachi with the wedding date embroidered on the pallu. Her blouse and kaliras featured a custom butterfly motif, and her mangalsutra had the infinity symbol, which sources say has a special meaning for the couple. And Patralekhaa Paul's red Sabyasachi sari was inscribed with Bengali poetry by the designer while Rhea Kapoor after-partied in an off-white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla skirt with the word 'love' embroidered on it in different languages. She paired it with a red blouse and casual cool sneakers to stay true to her personality.
