Linn 150 Floorstanding Speakers+ Linn Selekt DSM Edition Hub | Hi-Fi System | ₹25,40,200
Even with all the information overload on the interweb, some brands and their associated experiences remain mystical. Scottish brand Linn is one of those that have always been well regarded but not extensively seen, heard or reviewed. So when Audio Nirvana, the brand’s Indian reps approached us for a system review of their newest floorstanding speaker partnered with their almost legendary streamer/DAC, a negative response wasn’t an option.
The Selekt DSM comes in two variants and for this review, we were handed the Edition Hub which is the more luxurious option. Not just in its casework, which is substantial and very inert, but also in the fit and finish of the multifunctional dial on the top panel and some additional connectivity as standard. What always set Linn apart from its peers is its unflinching belief in the modular path for its products and the Selekt DSM Edition Hub almost feels like the culmination of the decades-old philosophy. With dealer support, which is the only way Linn will let you tinker with the internals, you could go from a basic streamer to a streamer/DAC, go up three different levels of DAC performance, add amplifier modules from mono to stereo to 7.2 channels with a surround capable processor and relevant HDMI switching too! Having witnessed the upgrade process firsthand, it leaves no room for doubt about the elegance of this design and approach. In fact, it’s the answer to every audiophile itch and if you found yourself reading this piece, you’re probably feeling it right now. The Selekt DSM could potentially be in your system and indeed your family for decades with timely upgrades.
