VALVE REPORTEDLY ENTERS MASS PRODUCTION OF NEW VR HEADSET

Valve is rumored to have begun mass production of its next-generation virtual reality headset, signaling the company’s return to high-end immersive hardware nearly five years after the release of the Valve Index.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR VALVE’S HARDWARE STRATEGY

Valve has maintained a strong presence in the virtual reality space since the launch of the Index in 2019, a system praised for its precision tracking and premium experience but criticized for its reliance on external sensors and high setup cost. The rumored new model is expected to address those shortcomings, possibly adopting a standalone design similar to Meta’s Quest headsets, removing the need for tethering to a gaming PC.

Sources from industry indicate that Valve has finalized the design and begun full-scale production, a major step toward commercial release.
