The Digital Edition’s price has risen by over 10% in affected markets, a decision Sony attributes to rising production and shipping costs amid global trade disruptions. Europe’s gaming community, with over 40 million PS5 units sold continent-wide, now faces higher costs for the slimmed-down console, while UK and Australian buyers see similar upticks. New Zealand’s market, though smaller, mirrors this trend, amplifying affordability concerns for a console already over four years old.

This hike coincides with a turbulent economic landscape, where fluctuating exchange rates and supply chain constraints challenge manufacturers like Sony.
