OpenAI announced it has achieved $10 billion in annual recurring revenue, driven by the rapid growth of its ChatGPT chatbot.

OPENAI REACHES $10 BILLION IN ANNUAL RECURRING REVENUE

The milestone, reached less than three years after ChatGPT’s launch, reflects strong demand for the company’s consumer and business products.

OpenAI’s $10 billion in annual recurring revenue includes sales from consumer subscriptions, ChatGPT business products, and its application programming interface (API). The figure excludes licensing revenue from Microsoft and large one-time deals, according to a company spokesperson. Last year, OpenAI reported approximately $5.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, indicating a near doubling of revenue within a year. The company supports 500 million weekly active users and 3 million paying business users, up from 2 million in February.

imageBUSINESS GROWTH

ChatGPT’s business adoption has surged, with 3 million paying business users across enterprises like Block, Canva, The Estée Lauder Companies, and PwC. The platform’s consumer base includes 20 million paid subscribers, up from 15.5 million at the end of 2024, contributing significantly to revenue.

OpenAI’s consumer-facing ChatGPT Plus plan, priced at $20 per month, remains a key revenue driver, alongside higher-tier Pro ($200/month), Team ($25-$30/month per seat), and Enterprise plans with custom pricing.
