APPLE NEARS $1 BILLION-A-YEAR DEAL TO USE GOOGLE'S GEMINI AI IN SIRI AND APPLE SERVICES

Apple is reportedly close to finalizing a multiyear agreement with Google valued at nearly $1 billion annually, granting access to Google's Gemini AI model for integration into Siri and other Apple services.

APPLE NEARS $1 BILLION-A-YEAR DEAL TO USE GOOGLE'S GEMINI AI IN SIRI AND APPLE SERVICES

The deal, first reported by the South China Morning Post, represents one of the most significant cross-platform collaborations between the two longtime competitors, signaling Apple's accelerated push to enhance its AI ecosystem across devices.

According to people familiar with the negotiations, the agreement would allow Apple to embed select Gemini capabilities—including text generation, contextual understanding, and multimodal reasoning—directly into Siri, Spotlight Search, and Apple Intelligence frameworks. While Apple continues to develop its own in-house models, the company reportedly views Google's infrastructure as an essential bridge toward more advanced conversational AI in the short term.

imageIf finalized, the partnership could take effect as early as mid-2026, aligning with Apple's next major OS cycle and the full rollout of its generative AI features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

STRATEGIC MOVE TO BOOST APPLE'S AI CAPABILITIES

The reported agreement follows months of speculation about Apple's plans to integrate third-party AI models into its ecosystem. Earlier this year, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that Apple had been exploring partnerships with leading AI providers “where it makes sense,” while reiterating the company's commitment to user privacy and on-device processing.

Under the proposed deal, Google's Gemini Ultra and Gemini Nano models would support a range of Apple services, from improved natural language responses in Siri to AI-assisted writing and image-generation tools within productivity apps. Apple's implementation will reportedly focus on localized, privacy-protected inference, with much of the data processed on-device using Apple Silicon’s Neural Engine and Secure Enclave.
