The Tata Sierra was always more than just a car. It symbolised freedom, individuality and a certain confidence you rarely saw on Indian roads in the 1990s. The new Sierra tries to bring that same spirit back, but now with sharp modern engineering, advanced technology and a bold stance that fits today's expectations. The new design is sharper, wider and far more sophisticated, which is why the Sierra has already won the prestigious Red Dot global design award, becoming the first Indian car to receive that honour.
The original Tata Sierra was known for attitude, superb road presence, and a feeling of freedom on the open road. The new Sierra brings that same emotional pull the moment you see it. The long glasshouse, upright stance, clean body lines and the signature wrap-around rear windows immediately remind you of the legend, but the modern Sierra adds sharper surfaces, a futuristic LED DRL signature, and a far more premium build. In terms of size, the Sierra sits at 4340 mm in length, 1841 mm in width and 1715 mm in height, with a long 2730 mm wheelbase. These numbers put it right in the heart of the 4+ metre SUV category, yet it feels bigger and more planted than rivals, thanks to its stance and proportions.
From a driver's point of view, I felt that it looks like a proper SUV, not a tall hatchback or a crossover. The driving position is commanding, the bonnet is visible, and the cabin immediately communicates space and solidity. Its presence is reassuring but not intimidating or unmanageable and that is immediately endearing.
Exterior and Interior Design
Step closer and the exterior design becomes even more interesting.
