Webasto Roofsystems India Private Limited is an Indian private company established in 1996, specialising in the manufacture of car roof systems, including rail-to-rail openable panorama roofs. It is a subsidiary of the global Webasto Group, which provides automotive roof systems and solutions for e-mobility. In India, Webasto operates a plant in Pune (Pulgaon), a Tech Centre in Pune (Kharadi), and has recently established a second plant in Chennai (Irungattukottai Sipcot) to enhance production capacity. Its products serve the Indian automobile industry, including sunroofs, panoramic roofs, and potentially components for electric mobility and heating systems.

The next chapter in our factory visit coverage is Webasto Group, a globally renowned automotive supplier headquartered in Germany. With a legacy spanning nearly 125 years, the Webasto Group is a leading developer and manufacturer of roof systems, heating and cooling solutions, and electric mobility systems for vehicles. The company operates at the forefront of technological innovation with a presence in over 50 locations worldwide.

In India, Webasto has made significant strides since its operations began. Strategically aligned with the global mission, Webasto India plays a vital role in the company's manufacturing and supply chain network — catering to both domestic and international automotive OEMs. The facility is known for its advanced production systems, commitment to quality, and a growing focus on solutions for the electric vehicle ecosystem. For our tour to the company, we were joined by Mayur Bhadkamkar - Plant Director, Webasto India (Pune) (Tech & Operations Focus), who took us through the technological capabilities and innovations driving their operations, and Dr. Vikas Prasad - Managing Director, Webasto India, who shared strategic perspectives on leadership, market growth, and the road ahead.

Facility

The Pune facility of Webasto India mirrored the same level of technological excellence that their global operations are known for. Whether it's manufacturing precision roof systems or assembling battery packs, standardised global processes with locally trained teams are followed globally.
