SES launches second-generation Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites

O3b mPOWER

O3b mPOWER is SES’ second-generation MEO system. It builds on the success of SES’ first-generation O3b system, the industry’s only commercially proven non-geostationary satellite orbit (NGSO) constellation. It will operate in the

medium earth orbit at 8,000km away from Earth. The O3b mPOWER communications system comprises an initial constellation of 11 high-throughput and low-latency satellites as well as extensive ground infrastructure. The first of the five O3b mPOWER launches was set for mid December 2022, and the global terabit level scalable constellation with begin providing services in Q3 2023.
