SUMMER 2026's MUST-PLAY GAMES

There are summers where gaming feels like a checklist, with big launches, bigger marketing, and a constant pressure to keep up.

And then there are summers like 2026, which feel... different. Just a handful of games, each coming from very specific creative places. Some of them are nostalgic, some experimental, and some are carrying legacy franchises on their backs. And if you're even slightly invested in cars, stealth, adventure, or RPGs, this summer is going to hit a lot closer to home than you'd expect. Here are the ones that matter.

FORZA HORIZON 6

There are racing games, and then there's Forza Horizon. And if you've spent any time with the previous entries, you already know this isn't about lap times but feeling like you're part of a living car culture. The anticipation around Forza Horizon 6 is honestly unmatched among auto enthusiasts. Don't expect radical reinvention because the Forza series is known for something very rare: consistency without complacency.

Every Horizon game has managed to refine the formula, with bigger maps, better lighting, more tactile driving physics, and an ever-growing roster of cars that feels like a curated automotive dream garage. And personally, this is the one I'm most curious about from a world-building standpoint. Where do they go next? What kind of terrain, what kind of vibe? Because Horizon lives and dies on atmosphere.

There's also something quietly important about this release. In a world where racing games are either hyper-sim or arcade chaos, Horizon continues to sit in that perfect middle ground, remaining accessible while never feeling shallow. If they nail the map and progression loop again, this will be a yearlong companion.
