Unsolicited promotional calls and SMS have become a daily nuisance for most mobile users in India.
Thankfully, TRAI's National Do Not Disturb (NDNC) registry and telecom-specific tools make it easy to block almost all marketing calls on both Airtel and Jio numbers. This is the step-by-step guide you need to permanently stop them.
QUICK COMMON STEPS (WORKS FOR BOTH AIRTEL & JIO)
- Activate Full DND via SMS Send SMS "START 0" to 1909 (toll-free). You'll receive a confirmation within minutes. Full DND (option 0) blocks all promotional calls and SMS except transactional messages (bank OTPs, bill alerts, etc.).
- Activate DND via Call Dial 1909 > Choose language > Select "1" for complaint/DND > Press "1" to activate Full DND.
- Wait 7 Days TRAI rules mandate that DND activation takes up to 7 working days. Most promotional calls stop within 24-48 hours, but legally companies get 7 days.
