RISING SOLAR TRENDS
EPR Magazine (Electrical & Power Review)
|November 2025
The solar industry has evolved significantly, moving from Mono PERC to Topcon and HJT technologies, and from cell sizes M10 and M10R to G12 and G12R.
-
The country has covered close to half of its 500 GW target for 2030. Gujarat, with 22 GW of Solar + Hybrid, and Rajasthan, with 21 GW, are driving India's renewable energy growth, especially in solar and hybrid parks. While Tamil Nadu has 19 GW of wind power, Karnataka has a balanced mix of solar, wind, and industrial demand with 18 GW. The sector now focuses on hybrid systems, storage support, and stronger transmission corridors to ensure a steady round-the-clock supply.
The EPR team was on the ground at REI 2025 to understand trends in the renewable energy space and the achievements made so far.
Current scenario of the industry In projects such as PM Surya Ghar, Kusum, and other megasized solar parks, the industry is now shifting towards using only top-of-the-line model solar panels, ranging from 600 to 620 watts each. This move reflects the broader industry trend toward higher efficiency and performance.
The renewable business has grown by 3x since last year, and it will continue to grow. Currently, all imports of solar inverters are from China, which incur a 20 percent customs duty. Anurag Agarwal, CEO, Global Exports and New Businesses of Polycab India Limited, shares, "We are trying to become fully backwardsintegrated in the inverter manufacturing space. With inhouse manufacturing integration, we will avoid the duty and pass on the savings to our customers." There are many geopolitical strategies in the global market.
Anurag Agarwal says we are expanding our footprint further into India. There is a great opportunity in the Indian market.
With over 25 percent market share, we are the leading player in India and are now focusing on tapping into the remaining white spaces to accelerate our growth. Additionally, we offer quick service support, aiming to respond within 24 hours from our depots.
