IPHONE 17E RUMORED TO ADD DYNAMIC ISLAND AND A19 CHIP AS PRODUCTION NEARS

Apple is preparing another update to its entry-level iPhone lineup, with new supply-chain chatter suggesting that the upcoming iPhone 17e will introduce design and silicon changes that bring it closer to Apple's recent mainstream devices while keeping costs in check.

According to claims circulating from Chinese leakers, the iPhone 17e is expected to move away from the display notch used on the current iPhone 16e and adopt Apple's pill-shaped Dynamic Island cutout. That change would align the budget-oriented model more closely with Apple's higher-end phones released over the past few years, where the Dynamic Island has replaced the notch as the standard approach for housing front-facing sensors.

The iPhone 16e, which launched earlier this year, relies on a notch-based design similar to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 and uses an A18 chip configured with a reduced 4-core GPU. The forthcoming model is now rumored to receive a new processor derived from Apple's next-generation silicon, referred to as a downclocked A19 chip.

The latest report comes from “Smart Pikachu,” a Weibo account that has previously shared accurate details about Android hardware supply chains. The leaker claims that both the display cutout and the internal chip configuration will change on the iPhone 17e, with mass production scheduled to begin shortly after CES concludes in early January.
