HINCKLEY Leicester Road are to fold 11 seasons after forming to bring football back to Hinckley United’s old ground - but another rebirth is planned.

A statement from the Step 4 club said “the process of requesting voluntary demotion” had “made other pressing decisions much easier” ahead of confirming the company behind the first team, Leicester Road Football Club Limited, would be liquidated.

Chairman Ku Akeredolu is listed as the only director and person with significant control on Companies House, holding the same status in the separate company that runs the stadium — Leicester Road Stadium Limited.

The statement added that the club’s development side, which plays at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League, and youth set-up would “continue to operate, play and be based at Leicester Road Stadium without exception”.
