Honours even for Taylor return

THE spoils were shared in a tasty battle between Wealdstone’s new boss Neil Gibson and his predecessor of just 12 days, Matt Taylor.

Both Gibson and Taylor were taking their first games in their respective dugouts, and it was fitting that they both earned a point apiece in a tense affair.

Alex Reid, who returned to Wealdstone just days after Taylor’s departure, fired the Stones in front inside four minutes, only for Alex Whitmore to cancel it out just before half-time.

Taylor said: “I think what the boys did today was show real character – they showed a real desire to get back in the football game.

“We will play better than that without a shadow of a doubt, but full credit to Wealdstone; they’re good at what they do.”

Opposite number Gibson was equally satisfied, adding: “I couldn’t have asked anymore in terms of effort for our first game after only a few sessions of working with the group.
