ISAIAH SEEKS A SLICE OF THE ACTION

FORGOTTEN man Isaiah Jones is pushing for a start in tomorrow night’s Kenilworth Road showdown after shaking off a nasty dose of second-season syndrome.

Jones, 23, burst onto the scene at the Riverside last season, notching one goal, eight assists and turning in a succession of sparkling performances at right wing-back. 

Named Championship Player of the Month in December 2021, he was even linked with a big-money move to Arsenal in the January transfer window and was the reason Boro sanctioned Djed Spence’s £20m move to Spurs.

Rarely, though, has he approached that sort of form this term. Ruthlessly man-marked in the early stages of the campaign, he cut a frustrated figure under Chris Wilder and struggled to impact games.
