Scot in pole position as track series enters final weekend
Despite not feeling at her best, Katie Archibald did more than enough to hold on to the leader's jersey in Saturday's round of the Track Champions League in Paris.
The Scot will now hold the turquoise jersey when the series enters its climax in London on Friday and Saturday.
Archibald had placed third in the scratch race after winner Sarah van Dam clipped off the front with six laps to go. However, she came back to win the elimination race, doing more than enough to maintain her place at the top of the overall standings.
Speaking to Cycling Weekly Archibald said: "I felt really awful after the scratch race and I'd kind of come to terms with the fact that the elimination race wasn't going to go very well. I was just going to [try and] make it through in the top 10. And then it was just entirely manageable, so I think maybe everybody else had gotten on the start line with that same sensation."
She added that she'd had a nice manageable transition between the first round in Majorca and the second in Berlin, but that the subsequent travel from Berlin to Paris seemed to have taken a toll on her.
