Ned contemplates 2022, a year of personal highs and lows

The year of 2022 will be remembered for many reasons, and in an infinite number of different ways. Of course, we have all experienced our own particular bespoke blend of setbacks, successes, annoyances and delights: our lived experience has taken on a shape and form unique to one person alone.

So, it is hard to apply one catch-all summary of the racing year just gone that will fit everyone's understanding of what happened over the last 12 months. For example, I will not recall the world championships this year with any particular affection, as I was distracted at the time by the impending start of my theatre show, which remained largely unwritten even though it was by then only a matter of days away from beginning. Remco Evenepoel's immensity somehow got lost in the acres of worry that had taken up residence in the estate of my daily life.
